4th of July Flyer Craft
We created this simple and colorful flyers with just a few supplies you already have lying around your house! This craft is perfect for toddlers as well as elementary school students. It’s simple yet fun to create and you’ll end up with a fun little toy to run around with and toss in the air. It’s also perfect for parades or other festive events, it can even be used as a megaphone and amplify little ones voices.
What you need:
1.) Paper towel rules (tip: save paper towel and toilet paper rolls in a storage bin so you have them handy for projects)
2.) Red, White, & Blue paint
3.) Paintbrushes
4.) Ribbons in assorted colors and designs (you can also substitute with tissue paper designed for gift wrapping, just cut it into strips)
5.) Double sided adhesive scrapbook roller tape (if you don’t have this you can always just use regular Scotch tape, this just conceals it better)
Once you have your supplies it’s time to start creating! The first thing you’ll want to do is paint your paper towel rolls. You can leave them solid colors or get as creative as you’d like! Your little Picasso can paint to their little hearts content. Once they are finished set the rolls out to dry.
After its dry, you can start adding the ribbons! The scrapbook roller tape works great in this scenario. The kids cut their ribbon and then I applied a piece of adhesive to the back of each one and all they had to do was stick them on. If you’re not an avid crafter and don’t have this handy any old tape will do. Since you are attaching the ribbon inside the tube, it will for the most part be concealed. Another option would be to use a hot glue gun. My advice is to just work with what you have at home!
If you don’t want to paint you could use markers or crayons to color the paper towel roll and add stickers for fun designs!
All 3 of my kids enjoyed making these and the best part was playing with them after. To see a short video pic of these in use check out our instagram page. Instagram.com/youngwildmefamily.
