As Easter approaches, it's time to add a touch of magic to your celebrations with delightful treats that capture the spirit of the season. In this blog post, we'll guide you through the process of creating Bird's Nest Cookie Cups – whimsical and delicious treats that are perfect for Easter gatherings, parties, or simply enjoying with your loved ones at home. By using premade sugar cookie dough and a few simple ingredients, you can whip up these delightful cookie cups in no time, leaving you more time to enjoy the holiday festivities with your loved ones. Let's jump right in and discover how to make these adorable and festive treats that are sure to be a hit at any holiday gathering!

Ingredients Needed:

- Premade sugar cookie dough

- Vanilla frosting

- Shredded coconut

- Green food coloring

- Cadbury candy eggs

- sprinkles optional!

Step 1: Prepare the Cookie Cups

To start, preheat your oven according to the instructions on the premade sugar cookie dough package. The dough is already divided into equal portions for you. I’ve found that 2 pieces of dough work perfectly to fill each muffin cup on a standard size 12 opening muffin tin. Gently press into the bottom of each opening.

Bake the cookie cups in the preheated oven according to the package instructions, or until they are lightly golden brown and set. Once baked, remove the muffin tin from the oven and allow the cookie cups to cool slightly.

Step 2: Form the Nest

While the cookie cups are still warm, use the bottom of a small glass or something similar to gently press down in the center of each cup, forming an indentation to create the nest shape. Be careful not to press too hard, as you want to maintain the integrity of the cookie cups.

Once the indentations are formed, allow the cookie cups to cool completely in the muffin tin. This will help them retain their shape and make them easier to remove once fully cooled.

Step 3: Prepare the Nest Fillings

In a small bowl, mix together shredded coconut with a few drops of green food coloring until the coconut is evenly dyed green, resembling grass. This will be the "nest material" for your Bird's Nest Cookie Cups.

Once the cookie cups are completely cooled, carefully remove them from the muffin tin and place them on a serving platter or tray. They should pop out fairly easily, but if you are having any trouble run a knife around the edges.

Step 4: Fill the Nest

Spoon or pipe a small dollop of vanilla frosting onto each cookie cup. You’ll want the bottom covered. This will act as “glue” to help adhere the coconut to.

Add a generous amount of the green dyed coconut, creating a nest-like appearance.

I found some Easter mixed sprinkles and couldn’t resist adding them into the nests for a pop of color. Feel free to omit this step if you like.

Step 5: Add the Eggs

To complete the Bird's Nest Cookie Cups, top each one with Cadbury candy eggs. These colorful candy eggs will resemble bird eggs nestled in the coconut "nests," adding a festive and delicious touch to your Easter treats. You can place them directly on top of the coconut and let them rest there or you can add a small dollop of frosting on top of the coconut to help them adhere to the nest.

Step 6: Enjoy Your Easter Treats:

Once assembled, your Bird's Nest Cookie Cups are ready to be enjoyed! Serve them at Easter brunch, a holiday party, or simply as a special treat for family and friends. These adorable and delicious treats are sure to be a hit with everyone this Easter season.

Bird's Nest Cookie Cups are a fun and festive Easter treat that are easy to make and even easier to enjoy. Feel free to make your cookie dough or frosting from scratch, but I find that I save a lot of time using premade options. Which leaves me more time to enjoy with family and friends. Whether you're celebrating with a small gathering or hosting a larger party, these Bird's Nest Cookie Cups are sure to add a touch of sweetness and joy to your Easter celebrations. So gather your ingredients and get ready to indulge in these tasty Easter treats!
