Simple & Fun Back To School Lunch Box Ideas

One of my favorite parts of being a parent is surprising my kids and finding little ways to show them how much I love them. I’ve always enjoyed packing something a little special or fun inside their lunchboxes. This could be something as simple as small little note of encouragement or just to say I love you. But, when I’m feeling creative I like to turn simple ordinary foods into something unique that I know will put a smile on my kids faces come lunchtime or snacktime! I’ve created this short list of some of my favorites for you that are all so quick and easy! With the 2020 back to school season in full swing, I thought you might enjoy.

I’d love for you to comment below and let me know if you have any unique lunchbox ideas of your own! Come on moms, let’s all come together and share our best ideas!

1.) Butterfly Fruit

This one is so simple and turns out adorable! Just add your child’s favorite fruit to a snack size plastic bag and divide it down the middle. Next you’ll cut a pipe cleaner in half and wrap it around the middle part of the bag, twist and then shape little antenna. This literally takes less than minute and will have your child beaming from ear to ear. The first time I did this for my daughter she came home and told me how all of her friends couldn’t stop talking about her cute butterfly snack!

2.) Fruit Kabobs

Another fun way to serve fruit in your child’s lunch is with fruit kabobs. All you need are small size skewers and whatever fruit your child likes. I prefer to use at least two different kinds of fruit with different colors to keep the fruit kabobs looking bright and colorful. Grapes and blueberries are some of my favorites to use. The colors are pretty and they are easy to put on the skewers.

3.) Monster Sandwiches

Turning a plain square shaped sandwich into a monster is really quite simple. For the one you see hear I made a typical peanut butter sandwich and just sliced it jagged near the middle to create what looks like a monsters mouth. The silly monster eyes are just little candies that you can find in the baking aisle. Really it’s that easy and kids will love finding a fun monster sandwich inside their lunch box!

4.) Mickey Shaped Watermelon

Our love of all things Disney inspired these Mickey shaped watermelon pieces. Just splice a large watermelon into large circular pieces then grab your favorite cookie cutter and go to town! You don’t have to use Mickey just pick whatever shape you want!

5.) Sandwich Kabobs

Do you have a child that’s picky and just eats the meat and cheese out of their sandwich leaving all the bread? The sandwich kabob is perfect in this situation. Just take everything you’d normally put in a sandwich like meat, cheese, and tomatoes and put them on a skewer! Voila, that’s it your done!

6.) Cute Crustless Sandwiches

If your child hates the crust on their sandwich anyway why not make it cute by cutting out fun shapes with cookie cutters?! Just prepare a sandwich as you normally would and then take a cookie cutter and cutter like a star or heart shape and cut through the entire sandwich. Isn’t food more exciting and fun to eat when it’s cut into cute shapes? This is really fun to do during different holidays too. For Halloween you can do pumpkin shapes or present shapes or snowman around Christmastime. Finally a use for the million cookie cutters I have lying around my house!

I hope you all enjoyed these simple and quick lunch box ideas and they brighten up your child’s day! These aren’t just for lunchboxes either, these are perfect for fun snacks or special occasions at home too. Don’t forget, let me know if you have any of your own fun lunch box ideas!
