When you think of September you probably think of back to school, but did you know that September is Hunger Action Month? Food shouldn’t be an impossible choice yet there are people facing poverty that need to make difficult choices between food and other necessities like childcare or electricity. Feeding America is helping to raise awareness about hunger in America and how we can all give back. No one should have to choose between food and medicine yet that is the reality for millions of people in America. You can support people who face the impossible choices of hunger every day. Head to Feedingamerica.org/hungeractionmonth to learn more.

Let’s face it back to school can be stressful especially when it comes to meal planning. We received some amazing products to test out inside our latest BabbleBoxx and I’m pleased to share some simple ways to incorporate them into daily meals/snacks and save some time! Time really is the most precious commodity out there, so whenever I find ways to simplify my life I’m excited and want to share it. So, let’s get started!

Quick + Convenient Breakfast Options: We typically don’t have a ton of time in the morning, so I need to have foods on hand that I can prepare quickly and easily! During the week, Veggies Made Great Spinach Egg White Frittata are a great grab and go option. They have 5g of protein and are only 70 calories per serving. Like the name suggests, veggies are the first ingredient in all Veggies Made Great products, total mom win right here! The Spinach Egg White Frittata is made of over 80% veggies. I’ve also been known to put these in the kids lunch boxes to change things up from the typical sandwiches. It’s a great low cal option that’s yummy and packed with nutrition. Right now you can save on Veggies Made Great products with these coupons!

Now when you think of quick breakfast options fresh pancakes might not come to mind. But, with King Arthur Baking Company pancakes are so simple. Just add water to their Buttermilk Pancake Mix & Confetti Pancake Mix and you are ready to start cooking! We typically reserve pancake breakfasts for the weekends but with King Arthur Baking Company we sometimes break the rules because it’s so simple and doesn’t take a lot of time! The Buttermilk pancake mix is made using real buttermilk and is sourced non-GMO. You really can taste the difference, it’s hard to believe that you only need to add water.

This past week my youngest son celebrated his birthday and convinced me to use the Confetti Pancake Mix to make waffles for him in addition to the pancakes we were already making. It’s just as simple as the pancakes with the only addition being a bit of oil so I didn’t mind! The colorful sprinkles looked so cute and there are only 5 grams of added sugar in this mix. In addition, you won’t find any synthetic colors or artificial ingredients!

After School Snacks: As soon as my kids get home from school the first things they ask about is snacks! My twins eat lunch fairly late in the day, so a light snack is all they really need. Veggies Made Great Double Chocolate Muffins are a great option! The first two ingredients are zucchini and carrots and my kids love them. They taste like little lava cakes and are only 110 calories each! These muffins are such a great way to sneak in some extra veggies and are a great option for picky eaters. My youngest son eats lunch extremely early in his school day so he comes home starving and needs a bit more of a heavy duty snack. A great mom hack I started doing is to use Minute Rice Ready To Serve Rice and adding a bit of rotisserie chicken. This rice is so easy to prepare and comes in both White Rice & Brown Rice + Wild Rice options. He literally eats it right out of the cup which is BPA-free and 100% recyclable. Minute Rice Ready To Serve Rice is so convenient and is a perfect accompaniment to dinners too! Sometimes we make our own rice bowls with them. I just cook up some chicken or beef along with veggies and everyone chooses exactly what they want to add to their rice cups. Everyone is happy, and it’s so quick to prepare! They are ready in 90 seconds or less. I really like that they are perfectly proportioned so you get just the right balance of carbs to give you the energy you need for your day.

Lunchtime: While the kids are at school one of my go-to lunches are salads. I’ve been spicing them up with Mighty Sesame Harissa Tahini! It’s a great source protein and is vegan and gluten free. Harissa Tahini is basically Classic Tahini with a spicy twist. I also like using it as a yummy veggie dip. I’ve really been enjoying it and have been experimenting with different ways on how to use it. I’ve heard its really good in spreads too. If you prefer a little less spice try Mighty Sesame Organic Tahini. I’ll sometimes use this as a dip in the kid’s lunches. You can even use it as a mayo replacement in recipes, this is such a great hack!
