Let’s get started!

1.) Measure your fabric - This is where your cardboard will come into play. Measure out two pieces of cardboard approx. 11 inches in length. Place them on top of one another and beginning wrapping your first roll of tulle around the two pieces of cardboard.

1 full time around both sounds counts as 1 piece of fabric. Each Piece will be approximately 22 inches in length when cut. I like my Troll hair to look full and fluffy on the headband so I always double up the fabric in each row. To do this you’ll need to wrap the tulle around 10 times with your first roll and 8 times with your second resulting in 18 pieces of tulle in total.

If you’d prefer more troll hair, feel free to adjust the amount of tulle accordingly. It really just depends on much troll hair you want. You’ll also want to measure out on extra piece of tulle that will serve as your bow to tie up the Troll hair.

2.) Cut your fabric. - The two pieces of cardboard make it easy to cut the fabric straight. Just put the blades of the scissors between the two layers of cardboard and cut across.

3.) Knot the fabric on your headband - Start with 2 layers of tulle in your desired first color. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and hold in the middle. Place fabric under your headband and pull the tails through to form a knot. Tighten to secure. Repeat this process with alternating colors until you’ve used all of your tulle except for one piece.
